Finding your Albemarle Roots

This blog was created as a clearinghouse for African American research in Albemarle County, Virginia. I will be posting transcriptions of historical records relating to the history of slavery and freedom seeking in Albemarle County in order to tell the whole story of the history of the county and state and to help people to trace their African American roots. These records include manumissions and other legal documents in which enslaved and free people interacted with the laws of the county and state.
