To all to whom these presents shall come Be it known unto all men that I William Johnson of Albemarle County for Divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving do freely give and grant unto my Daughter Sally Johnson one negro Girl by the name of Esther the said Esther to be my property during my life and my wife’s if the said Esther should have children they are my property, and at my Disposal &c if the above sd Sally Johnson should have no issue lawfully begotten the said Esther as I give to my said Daughter Sally Johnson returns into my own falley[?] and becomes my own property as if I have never given her and I do maintain the said negro above mentioned to be free and clear from all incumbrance whatsoever & I do warrant the said Easter to be clear from the challenge claim or Demand of any person or persons whatsoever In Witness I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of November 1796.
