I William Gamble of the County of Albemarle State of Virginia being weak in body but of sound disposing mind and memory knowing the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof do hereby make this my last will and testament revoking all former wills by me made – I leave to my friends the manner of burial in hopes it will be with as little trouble as possible the expense to be paid Out of my Estate _ 1st In consequence of a large debt due my friend Nathaniel Garland and not wishing the negroes or slaves sold so as to be scattered in different peoples Lands I do hereby give to the said Nathaniel Garland of the County of Albemarle the following slaves to wit. Man Pleasant, Juliett, David, Albert, and Ellen and their increase 2nd I give to my brother Henry J Gambell of the County of Rockingham state of Virginia my girl Ann Boy Franklin little William and Henry. 3rd To my sister Charlotte I give all my stock of horses cattle and hogs plantation Tools one wagon household and Kitchen Furniture with a request that she will help our brother John as much as much as she can_ Lastly I appoint my friend Nathaniel Garland my Executor to Carry into effect this my last will and testament with a request for him to take care of my sisters estate see that she gets the necessaries of life and that at fair prices and attend to her affairs entire [?] if she remains in in this neighborhood but if she should best to go with some of her friends to live then he will be free from that part of his promise, In witness whereof I have set my hand and fixed my seal this sixth day of March one Thousand and eight hundred and forty Three William Gamble {seal}

This Instrument of Writing purporting to be the last will and testament of William Gamble Decd was brought into Court and proved by the oaths of John Griffin and Wilson F Mayner to of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded.
