Know all men by these presents that I William Leitch of the County of Albemarle State of Virginia do hereby manumit, set free and absolve from all duty to me as a Slave my negro woman Mary, of dark complexion, about 5 feet 2 inches in height & stoutly built, and the texture of the skin somewhat coarse, & marked by marks one on the right Jaw and aged about twenty five years. But I emancipate her upon the express condition, that she shall leave the Commonwealth of Va within three months from this date, unless prevented by sickness or other unavoidable accident, and if she shall fail so to do, then her right to freedom shall be wholly forfeited, & the title of said slave shall be reverted in me, upon such failure, as fully as if this deed of manumission had never been made. In testimony whereof I have hereunto annexed my hand and seal this 4th day of Dec. 1832. William Leitch {L.S.}
