[5 June 1826]

Carter and Easter Negro Slaves the property of Benjamin Brown of this County were led to the bar in custody of the Jailor of the County and being charged for that he the  said Carter on the 11th day of April 1826 and within the Jurisdiction of this Court, and feloniously & willfully and of his Malice aforethought, kill and murder one Betsey a negro woman Slave the property of the said Benjamin Brown and that she said Easter before the Commission of the above felony & Murder by the said Carter Viz on the 11th day of April 1826 feloniously and of her Mene? Malice did incite, move, council, advise & presure the said Carter to Commit the felony and Murder aforesaid, in and upon the said Betsey – who being arraigned pleaded not guilty, Whereupon on the examination of sundry witnesses it is the opinion of the Court that the prisoners are not guilty of the offense of which they stand charged, they are therefore discharged from Custody

Ordered that the Court be adjourned till tomorrow  morning 9 Oclocke
